Cookies on this site
Burnt Deals itself does not set any cookies and does not use local storage, advertising trackers or fingerprinting. That's why there's no cookie banner. If that ever changes, we'll ask for your consent first, as PECR requires.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless and doesn't store anything on your device. It records aggregate visit information (such as page, referrer, country and browser type) and doesn't build a profile of you. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also processes standard technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the site. See Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare's privacy policy. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (keeping the site running and understanding which pages are useful).
Newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address is stored by our newsletter provider, Buttondown, and is used only to send you the Burnt Deals Digest. We use double opt-in, so nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to delete your address at any time. Our lawful basis is your consent. We never sell or share your email address. See Buttondown's privacy policy. Our signup form is rate-limited by IP address for a maximum of one hour to stop abuse.
Affiliate links
Some links to stores such as Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical and GOG are affiliate links run through networks such as Impact and CJ (Commission Junction). When you click one, the network and the store may set a tracking cookie or similar identifier on the store's website (not on ours) so the store can credit Burnt Deals if you buy something. That cookie is set by them, under their own privacy policies and consent tools. We don't receive your name, email, payment details or any other personal data from this. Bluesky
We post free-game alerts on Bluesky. We don't collect any data from this site for Bluesky. If you follow or interact with us there, Bluesky's own privacy policy applies.
Other sites
Stores and other sites you click through to have their own privacy policies and may set their own cookies.
How long we keep data
We keep newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep signup rate-limit records for up to one hour. Analytics are aggregate only.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict processing, ask for data portability, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@burntandtoast.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
